Why on earth would anyone title their book “Stick it In Your Ear” anyway? There are three reasons why Often times when people are confronted about their hearing problem, they will push back, and maybe even tell you to ‘stick in your ear’. The irony is that if they would stick it in their ear, that is a precision amplifier (hearing aid), they could improve their life, and the lives of those who communicate with them. The third reason is revealed at the end of the book.

While I needed hearing help, I was resistant because of previous bad experiences. About 10 years prior to our meeting I paid nearly $3000. for a single in-the-ear aid from the leading supplier (M------Ear), and, of course, right after the 30 day trial period, I no longer wanted to wear them - uncomfortable and not effective. Not one penny was refunded! I was discouraged and angry. Just like Deano describes in the book. A combination of high expectations and poor performance. I could hear a flea pass gas at 100 feet, but could not clearly hear conversations. I could hear the dishes being washed in a restaurant, but could not hear the conversation. In a business meeting, I could not separate and understand the normal multiple voices "discussing" a subject. I was frustrated, learning to be very good a reading lips. Then I met Deano and told him of my experience and simple stated that if this did not work....well, I will leave that to your imagination. Deano was patient and knowledgeable; he reviewed with me everything that is now in his book. He is an excellent supplier for the best aids. The book and Deano are presenting factual information. I have been a client of Deano since that March 2005 day, and just yesterday made arrangements to secure the latest model. Why? Because my hearing, range and volume, has deteriorated over the last eight years. Deano keeps spouses happy - Oh my, the frustration for our spouses! I have seen this with my wife and the spouses of others who have a hearing need I have met. THANK YOU, Deano, for the returning me to the sounds of birds, to the small sounds of life; the grandchildren's voices; our children's voices when excitedly telling of their experiences; my wife smiling again; my smiling again. You care about your clients and it shows, in your testing and dispensing, and certainly by writing this important book. I now use an analogy when talking with people who need hearing help: Your hearing will be as if you were a person with dense cataracts, then after surgery you can see clearly once more.....You can hear the birds and the rustle of tree leaves. Believe me, STICK 'EM IN YOUR EAR, with Deano helping guide you, and this small book will be the best money you have ever invested.

This book helped me convince a family member to get a hearing aide (Get Unstock). It helped him read it for himself. He does not always wear them but it helps us too when he does. Hope he wears them more. Thanks.
I must say this is the first book I've read on hearing loss, but having been a sonar technician in the US Navy I know full well
how important our hearing is to us. I've often been accused of "selective hearing", which sometimes is true ) This book is well
written and easy to comprehend. Discussed in easy to understand terms, it really is a terrific book and I'm sure it will help
many, many people come to understand their own hearing issues, or those of loved ones, and hopefully assist in finding the proper solution.
Whether you, yourself, are experiencing hearing loss or if are experiencing the frustration of living with a loved one who is having difficulties hearing - this is a book to read. Kinsey explains, in layman's terms, the process of hearing loss and the steps you can take to correct the issue. This easy-to-read book will answer all the questions you may have about hearing aids and address all the excuses you may have for not getting them. By the time you're finished reading you'll be a lot more comfortable about confronting your hearing loss, you'll understand the steps you need to take to get a hearing aid - and you'll be ready to "stick it in your ear."
I have never written a review on a book before, but I have to say this book is one of the most informative books I have ever read. Every thing that you need to know is here, what you need to ask about when you are with a hearing specialist you always forget all you need to ask. With this book you learn everything you need to know before you go this author has done all the research for you. A very well written book so I could understand everything, I needed to learn before going to a hearing specialist. Thank you so much for letting the public know how to do this because, this is for the rest of our lives

I like this book a lot. It is written with compassion, knowledge and a sense of humor.
The book is simple, entertaining, well-organized, accurate and complete.
It explains basic facts about hearing loss and how it affects relationships.
It explains what can be done about it.
It is very truthful and easy to read. I am sure it would be very helpful to anyone considering getting hearing aids, or to anyone who knows someone they care about who should do something about their hearing.
